Your dog’s routine matters. So do their supplies.

Turn its usual ration into a concrete reserve: food, stock available and formats to buy, not to mention water.

A plan adapted to your companion

Get out of his usual food.

Enter the total quantity consumed within 24 hours, not per meal. The starting scenario (300 g/day) is an example to replace. L-tool calculates a stock; it does not determine the ration your dog needs.

Use the manufacturer's instructions adapted to your dog and, if necessary, those of your veterinarian. For a puppy, pregnancy, therapeutic diet or disease, have the ration validated. No automatic dosage by race, age or weight is proposed.

The margin adds stock to be expected; it does not increase the daily ration served.

Your food and formats

One line per food and same ration. For a mixed diet, add one line per product with its actual share of ration. The same dog can appear on several lines: the numbers are not added.

For a ration in cups, weigh the daily quantity or use the conversion into grams proper to the product. No universal weight per cup is assumed. For a 400 g box, enter 0.4 kg as a format.

Your Reserve List

The stocks remain separated by food. A surplus of croquettes does not compensate for a lack of therapeutic or wet food. The days covered concern only each food, with unchanged ration; they do not guarantee the overall autonomy.

Water is also part of the plan

A separate water supply.

The Canadian Preparation Guide proposes 4 L per day for a medium-sized dog. It is an emergency storage mark to be adapted, not a quantity to drink forcefully or a veterinary prescription.

Use the chosen duration, without the food margin. Check the actual number of dogs: it is independent of the food lines. Do not count twice the same water in the fireplace reserve.

How to use your result.

Find the method, useful actions and limitations of the calculation in the same place, on each PrépaCivile tool.

Calculation method

The method, without hidden approximation.

Food requirement = number of dogs involved × rations in g/dog/day × days ÷ 1,000. Objective = need × (1 + margin/100). Lack = maximum of zero and target minus stock. Formats to buy = shortage divided by the net weight of the format, rounded to the larger whole number.

Example: A dog consumes 300 g/day. For 7 days, plan 2.1 kg without margin. With 1 kg available, there is 1.1 kg missing: a 2 kg bag is enough to cover this shortage. This example does not recommend a 300 g ration for your dog.

Practical next steps

Reserves that remain usable.

  • Keep the references, batch number and date on the package. An original bag can be placed in a clean and closed container.
  • Follow the manufacturer's conditions. Products that require cold require a plan adapted to a power outage; the calculator does not validate their storage.
  • Organize the rotation and distinguish open packaging from closed products. An available weight is only useful if the food is still consumable.
  • Add a bowl, a box opener if necessary, a leash, medications and veterinary contact information to your dog's kit.

Limitations of the result

The ration must be adapted to your dog and his food. This tool calculates the reserves from your entries; it does not prescribe a ration and does not validate either nutrition or storage. The stocks remain separated by product.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I handle two dogs with different foods?

Yes. Create a line for each of their food with its number of dogs, ration, stock and format. Do not pool the stores of non-exchangeable products.

What about the croquettes with a slice of pâtée?

Create two lines for the same dog, indicating the actual daily quantities for each product. Do not enter two complete rations if they are not served.

Are my data stored?

No. The calculations remain in your browser; no account or email address is requested. Reload erases the entries. Print or export your plan to keep it.
